Optics is one of the most productive fields of modern science. Many innovative solutions of problems in science and industry rely on optical technologies. But even the most innovative product as well as the brightest experimental setup depend on reliable components manufactured with proven technologies.
Bernhard Halle founded his optical workshop in 1873, the same year in which Ernst Abbe published his theory of the microscope. The first products were crystal optics for polarization microscopes. The product range soon was extended to all kinds of mirrors and prisms complemented with the design and production of lens systems.
